Phil's Helpful Hint:
When choosing cedar decking, keep this in mind. Cedar ProDeck (manufactured cedar decking with grooves on bottom) typically is less expensive than standard S4S cedar 2x6. However, if you have a second story deck and are leaving the underside exposed, you may want to purchase the more expensive, better looking S4S product.

I just did my spring 'refresh' of the transparent stain I use on my deck (your 'Duck' product) and thought I should shoot you some photos of this project. I finished the deck last summer so this is its first winter. All of the materials came from Shur-way. What really sets this deck apart are the hidden stainless steel brackets and the continuous 20' Prodeck boards. There is not a fastener to be seen anywhere in the cedar and that includes the rails. Combine that with a rich transparent stain and you've got a recipe for many compliments.
I have done many trips to the Vancouver Store to bring this project to completion and everyone there has been very helpful throughout. Many thanks.
